Dr. Richard Ahn, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in hand, wrist, and elbow surgeries. He is a dedicated physician who is committed to providing the highest level of care to improve treatment outcomes for all of his patients. His approach maximizes the use of non-operative treatments as a means to help patients avoid surgery; however, he will perform surgery when necessary to provide patients with the best treatment for their injury or ailment.
Dr. Ahn graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with double majors in Biochemistry and Economics. He then moved across the country to Buffalo, New York, where he earned his medical degree at SUNY Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He graduated with honors and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, an honor society that is granted to only top medical students in the nation.
He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at SUNY Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. During his residency, he provided coverage for two busy level 1 trauma centers where he treated various types of complex orthopedic injuries in the emergency room and operative room settings. Dr. Ahn then moved to New York City and completed his fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery, a hospital that has been ranked as the #1 Orthopaedic Hospital for the last ten years in the U.S. News and World Report rankings. During his fellowship, he trained under world pioneers in hand, wrist, and elbow surgeries and was exposed to a variety of rare and complex pathologies involving the hand and upper extremities. In addition, he has completed microsurgery training at the world-renowned Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore, India.
Dr. Ahn is excited to have the opportunity to serve the community and provide care for a wide range of clinical problems affecting the hands, wrists, forearms, and elbows, from simple to complex.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Ahn enjoys playing tennis and golf with friends and spending time with his family.
